Bored with your old dating routine of pizza and a movie? Make your next night on the town a romantic one, without having to leave your neighbourhood.

As times have changed, so has our idea of a night on the town. With internet dating, text dating, and speed dating, one might wonder what actually to do on a real face-to-face date. Dating can be daunting, lucky for you there are a variety of romantic must-try spots right in your neighbourhood.

Flowers:

This may be an old tradition, but I don’t know anyone that wouldn’t be happyIMG_5224 to receive flowers.  The Danforth has a great variety of shops that offer excellent service and great price points. Check out Fresh Floral Creations located at 175 Danfoth Avenue.  Danforth resident Doreen Mullen raves about this location: “They have a fabulous selection of fresh cut flowers. The weekly window display is worth a trip alone.” Bruno, the owner, will be sure to recommend something perfect for you.

Dining:

veg3Where I’m from, an evening out requires a nice dinner. I suggest Trapezzi. Described as a “resto-lounge,” this elegant establishment has dark chocolate walls, creating an intimate dining experience. Their menu offers  Mediterranean food and appetizers range from Greek Salad to a Filo Bundle, which is stuffed with herbed goat cheese, roasted red peppers, and grilled vegetables with a balsamic drizzle. Entrées include Penne with seared beef and mixed vegetables tossed in whiskey sauce to Red Wine slow braised lamb shank served with stewed vegetables. Prices range from $7.00 for an appetizer to $24.oo for an entrée.

Desserts:

Saved room for dessert?  Take your sweetie for a decedent treat atIMG_5240 Caffé Demetre. The Danforth location is the first Canadian location and is celebrating 20 years of business. Open until 1:30am on weekends, this is a great way to end the evening. Enjoy the laid-back attitude of this neighbourhood eatery while indulging in one of the many sinful desserts. I recommend sharing a Belgian Waffle, topped with homemade ice cream. Pair it with a cappuccino or a mixed drink from the extensive liquor menu.
