Sarah El-Riffaey

Chief Copy-Editor

Behind the scenes is grammar-hungry Chief copy-editor, Sarah Norah El-Riffaey. A combination of Egyptian blood from her dad and Swiss from her mom, this curly-haired dictionary-reading gal says that she “loves correcting people’s mistakes and making the articles the best they can be.”

This is Sarah…

On The Danforth: What is one of your favourite quotes?
Sarah Norah El-Riffaey: “Everything moves. We must advance to live. Aim straight ahead towards those you love.” – Jean-Luc Godard

OTD: If you could stay a certain age for the rest of your life, what age would you choose and why?
SNE: I would like to stay 24 forever. I feel like I would be independent enough at that age to accomplish everything I’d like to without being immature about it. I would be finished school and hopefully begin a career I enjoy. Also, I just really enjoy even numbers and that year would be my champagne birthday! (So much for maturity).

OTD: If you could witness any event (past, present, future), what would it be and why?
SNE: I would have loved to be around to see the Eiffel Tower go up in 1889. In general, anything momentous that has ever happened in Paris (other than things to do with wars) would have been nice to wtiness.

OTD: What are five songs that would be the soundtrack to your life?
SNE: Opening credits: Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major; Growing up: Everyday I’m Hustling – Rick Ross; First love/significant loss: Famous Blue Raincoat – Leonard Cohen; Old age: Albinoni’s Adagio; Death: Don’t Stop the Music – Rihanna

OTD: Where’s Waldo?
SNE: Waldo’s whereabouts are top secret information and should not concern you.

Where does Sarah hope to find herself in the next couple of years?
