Faces of the Danforth

By: Nick Brehmer, Alicia Kolenda, and Katie Yantzi

Faces of the Danforth is a photography project inspired by Brandon Stanton’s “Humans of New York.” Much like its inspiration, Faces of the Danforth strives to feature members of a community and connect those people on a more human level. Walking up and down the streets of the city, you see so many unique people; you might be surprised to discover that you have similar experiences or that you are indeed vastly different. Regardless, we hope you find the visuals of the Faces of the Danforth posts to be as inspirational as we do.

“How are you surviving the cold?” DSC_9736

“Not very well, but it’s letting up. My apartment is freezing.”

“Is your heat not working?”

“Not well and there’s single paned glass.”

“Brutal.”

“Ohhh yeah!”

“Humans like homo sapiens? Like hominids?”

“… Yes”

“Its cold!”

“You don’t even have your jacket done up!”

“I can’t do my jacket up. It’s a psychological thing. There has to be a wind chill of at least -35. I get claustrophobic or something.”

“How do you two know each other?” DSC_9730

“Well, we’ve known each other since grade 7. We go to Ryerson together.”

“What are you taking?”

“I’m taking creative industries.”

“I’m in retail.”

“What’s the plan after?”

“I don’t really know. Something in business and fashion.”

“Something in retail but I’m not sure.”
