How to Catch a Cheater in the Digital Age

I was in the middle of a shift at work when I found out I was getting two-timed. It was over a private message from the other woman, via Facebook. This news hit me like a punch to the gut. Back then, I wasn’t the best at concealing my emotions. I’m the type of person that broadcasts every thought that crosses my mind through my facial expressions. My boss caught on quickly that something was up when I was serving tables with a scowl painted across my face. He pulled me into the kitchen and asked what was up. I told him that I just found out I was being cheated on, hence why I was off my game. He rolled his eyes and said, “I cheat on my wife.” He pointed to the chef. “He cheats on his wife.” To which the chef confirmed with an apathetic nod.” Everyone does it, and you’re going to deal with this for the rest of your life. Now, get back to work!” Let’s say this wasn’t exactly the healthiest work environment. With that uninspiring pep talk, I went back out and finished waiting tables with my stomach in knots. Was my boss, right? Would this be something I would have to deal with for the rest of my life? What a depressing thought.

According to a poll conducted by Mainstreet Research in 2018, results showed that 57% of Canadian men admit to cheating in a past relationship. 54% of Canadian women admit to cheating on their partner in the past. 74% of men agreed that they’d have an affair if they knew they would never get caught. 68% of women admit to the same. As reluctant as I am to admit it, my boss was certainly onto something. As technology continues to advance, our smartphones have become more intricate. It has allowed multiple ways for tech-savvy people to see if their significant other is cheating on them. If you’re wondering whether your significant other is being unfaithful, here are three ways technology snitches on cheaters.

Snapchat

Do you suspect that your partner has a contact saved under a fake name? People have found a hack through Snapchat that allows them to see who their partner is really texting. First, when you have access to your partner’s phone, write down the number of the contact you’re suspicious of. Add the contact into your phone. Then, go into Snapchat’s ‘Add Friends’ section. It will reveal the real name of the user.

Siri

For iPhone users only, there is a loophole that allows people to creep their partner’s messages without a password. If your partner has their Siri option on, say the phrase “Siri, read my last message.” Siri will read out the last text message received. Or, you can get more specific by saying the words, “Siri, read the last message from…” with the person in mind you are suspicious of. It doesn’t reveal a whole lot, but it shows Siri does not have these cheater’s backs.

Uber

Uber can reveal digital clues that people can use to spy on their partners. There is an option in Uber that will share your ‘Ride’ status with someone for safety purposes. Using this setting will allow the user to see a log of the addresses of every single Uber ride. People have caught their partners in the act after seeing that their partner returns to the same location multiple times.

Although I do not condone this behavior, I can see why people would go to such lengths to discover the truth for themselves. I’m simply relaying information, do what you will with such. But, do take into consideration that invading your partner’s privacy is a big sign that your relationship could already be in jeopardy. Perhaps sitting down with your significant other and having an open conversation would be a more practical approach, but I digress. For those seeking peace of mind, I suggest using these as a very last resort. Tread carefully, though… Valentine’s Day is just around the corner!

The pandemic really helped me a lot in terms of gaining closure in my marriage. I was able to spend some enough time at home to find out the gross infidelity that has been going right under my nose. I think 2020 should just come to an end already. I would not have found out, thank God for the tips and help I got after I found the page(krebs investigative services). You can get on there as well if you need tips or help in your marriage or relationship. There might just be some signs you are overlooking. @briankrebs302
