Ever in acknowledgement and appreciation, On the Danforth Magazine accepts our duty to remain actively aware, pensive, and respectful of the land upon which we reside.

Centennial College and the Danforth area are located in Tkaronto—or Toronto—on the lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We recognize that it is because of their immemorial and continuing perseverance, caretaking, and love for this land that we, as settlers, have the privilege of documenting this community’s growth.

We also acknowledge the buried history of colonization, treaty infringements, and exploitation that is ongoing on these Indigenous grounds, for which resolution is long overdue.

A future of truth and reconciliation requires a commitment to reflection and awareness of our place as visitors among the people of the Mississaugas, who continue to call this community home. In observance of Toronto’s pledge to the Dish With One Spoon wampum agreement, we will hold ourselves accountable to share and maintain this land for communal honour and prosperity.
