Spa Spaces: The Danforth’s Best Beauty Destinations

Manis. Facials. Waxing. For a beauty lover, these aren’t just routine services—they’re acts of self-care. To that end, we have narrowed down the very best manicure, facial, and waxing spaces on the Danforth. These quality places will be sure to leave you satisfied.

BEST MANICURE: THE TEN SPOT

Kristen Gale created The Ten Spot back in 2006 after she noticed the need for a space that combined the quality standards of high-end spas with the efficiency of low-end nail salons.  Her first “anti-spa” on Queen Street West quickly gained a cult-like following.  The Ten Spot now has ten locations across the GTA, including one at 409 Danforth Avenue.

Franchise partner Jacki Allen explains how the Danforth location is integral to the success of their business: “Most of our locations are tucked into community driven, family-oriented neighbourhoods, just like the Danforth. We wouldn’t be where we are today without all the amazing and loyal guests that drive traffic through our door.”

The Ten Spot offers a wide range of beauty services, but their manicures and pedicures are the most popular. They offer everything from nail art, to “kiddie” and “quickie” manicures and pedicures, to gel polish. Their Danforth location even has a liquor license, so you can enjoy a glass of wine while being pampered.

BEST FACIAL: THE FREEZE CLINIC

The Freeze Clinic, opened by Sachi Morris and Jessica Biegel in 2013, is the first cold laser facial clinic in Toronto to offer a combined multi-beam and panel cold laser treatment—a process that penetrates various depths of the skin, boosting collagen, increasing hydration, and promoting healing.

After moving to Toronto from California where she received similar treatments, Morris noticed there was nothing like it in the city. She made it her mission to introduce the technology to Torontonians.  Best known for their freeze facial, Morris explained: “We have become a go-to for thousands of clients who have fallen in love with their skin again… whether you are suffering from dullness, acne, sun damage, redness or fine lines and sagging skin, Cold Laser can be customized to help you.”

Located at 808 Danforth Avenue, The Freeze Clinic is within walking distance for many of its local clients. Although the demographic of the area has changed a lot in the last ten years, Morris says the neighbourhood is very supportive of local businesses like hers. If you are looking for a non-invasive treatment to activate change below the skin’s surface, you should definitely check out The Freeze Clinic.

BEST WAX: ALLURE BODY BAR

With its dedicated following, Allure Body Bar is best known for its atmosphere and reliable service. Allure offers a wide range of waxes, but their most popular is the “Quickzillian Brazilian,” that takes under eight minutes.

Aesthetician and co-owner Alaa Abbassi opened Allure to create a needed change in the industry—offering customers a calming environment where health, comfort, and inclusiveness are priority. Alaa says: “It’s shameful how many clients come to us crying because another salon either wouldn’t take them or would charge more for the services because of their body type or hair type. We’ve seen a boom of men coming in for waxing.”

In just six years, Allure Body Bar has become a staple of the Danforth community. Their central location at 735 Danforth Avenue draws clients, not just from Toronto, but also from surrounding cities. Book early—spaces fill fast.
