Valentine’s Day Ideas for Every Relationship In Your Life
Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and you may be wondering what you should do this year to show your loved ones how much you care. For some people, Valentine’s Day is all about their romantic partners, but for others, it might be centered around their children, pets or even themselves! No matter your situation, make sure to spend some time celebrating all the wonderful people (and animals) in your life.
For Your Partner…
Depending on how long you two have been together, you might be running out of date ideas for the most romantic day of the year. The best way to know how to spend Valentine’s Day with your partner is to first figure out how they like to be loved! Try taking the 5 Love Languages Test together to make sure you’re loving your partner as best as you can! Your respective categories might determine what you spend the day doing. Your partner’s love language is Words of Affirmation? Spend some time writing them a love letter. Is it Physical Touch? Ask your partner if they’d enjoy a nice back massage from you. Your options are endless!
For Your Child…
If your child is old enough to understand the concept of Valentine’s Day but young enough to still be dependent on you, you can make the day extra special for them by preparing them some fun Valentine’s Day meals and snacks. Make some pink pancakes or heart-shaped toast for breakfast. If your child likes to cook with you, spend some time together making red velvet cupcakes or chocolate covered strawberries. Since Valentine’s Day falls on a school day this year, you can even slip a little love note into their lunch box.
For Your Dog…
Now, I’m sure you spend every day of the year showering your puppy in love and attention, but Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to make something extra adorable for him or her. Surely, a dog’s love language is food and treats, which is exactly why you should make them some homemade treats on Valentine’s Day. As long as your dog isn’t allergic, I would suggest frozen coconut oil and blueberry treats. Just fill up an ice cube tray with coconut oil, drop a blueberry in each cube, then pop it in the freezer for a few hours. This little treat (in moderation) is the perfect way to say “I love you” to your furry friend.
For Yourself…
There is nothing wrong with being single on Valentine’s Day, and if you are, you can make yourself your own Valentine! Spend the day having some much-deserved “me time.” Go to your favourite coffee shop and enjoy a warm drink, or take yourself to the mall and buy yourself something nice. You could even go see a movie on your own. If you’re more of a homebody, you can stay in for the night, put on a face mask, pour yourself a glass of wine and watch your favourite TV show or movie. Spending time with yourself is a great way to decompress, build self-esteem and practice self-love.
