Semi-Finals of On the Danforth’s Movie March Madness

NCAA’s March Madness tournament might be cancelled, but we are still going strong!

Round 1 is complete and the voters have spoken: Parasite has slayed Gladiator, the Titans have been forgotten, while Scott Pilgrim will face his biggest challenge yet, the boy who lived!

We love these movies. We laugh with them, we quote from them, we judge them, and on numerous occasions, we have cried over them. We keep so close to our hearts and we’re willing to fight for them.

We again need your help to decide once and for all which of these movies is the best! Voting will remain open until Tuesday, then the finals will be set!

Our worthy contenders include:

The Dark Knight:

“Some men just want to watch the world burn.” A gripping story featuring one of the most grounded depictions of the Joker. The Dark Knight places a magnifying glass over human morality and tells a story where the villain wins. There’s a reason it’s one of the highest reviewed superhero films on Rotten Tomatoes.

Parasite:

Winner of 3 Oscars at the 2020 Academy Awards ceremony, Parasite breaks every mold about movie-making as we know it.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World:

Scott Pilgrim must defeat Ramona Flowers’ seven evil exes to win her heart in epic arcade-style battles. Who doesn’t want to see Toronto’s classic charm on the big screen?

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone:

The first movie in any series always has that little something extra, and no one can deny Harry Potter is a family classic that everyone can come back to when they need a little magic in their life.
