My Top Five Must-Have Beauty Products from TikTok
Like many of us during the first quarantine, I—unfortunately for my productivity—discovered TikTok. Like many young people, I tend to have a little shopping addiction and send every TikTok I see of interesting products to my friends, with the comment “I NEED this”. Here are some of my favourite purchases as of late. Fair warning: after reading this, you might think that you need these products too. I don’t disagree with you, they changed my beauty game forever!
YSL Beauty Black Opium Eau de Parfum
YSL Black Opium is hands down the sexiest and most elegant perfume I own. It has a very mature vanilla scent with hints of red pepper, and it gets better every time you wear it. The perfume comes in a classy black, sparkly bottle. It is one of my favourite scents.
CLEAN Reserve Perfume
This is another scent recommendation I got from TikTok. The latest trend to go viral is that of looking “clean”. The look behind this are slick buns/ponytails, clean skin with minimal makeup, and a “soapy” scent. This perfume, especially the Fresh Laundry, is a classic that makes you feel clean and refreshed.
Garnier Ombrelle Sunscreen Face Sun Protection Ultra-Fluid Lotion SPF 60, 50ML
This sunscreen is the perfect dupe for the La Roche Posay sunscreen at half the price. It’s a smooth lotion that stays put under your makeup and can be reapplied over it as well. What really attracted me to this sunscreen was the price point! La Roche Posay is pricey, and some people may not want to pay that amount for a sunscreen they’re ideally supposed to apply up to 3 times a day, which makes the price point of this perfect at just $15.97 plus tax at Walmart Canada.
Rare Beauty Blush
Let me just say, Selena Gomez really hit it out of the park with her makeup line. At one point, all of the products were trending on TikTok, but the one to get the most attention the blush. More specifically, the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush is hands down the best blush ever! It is so pigmented that just one drop gets you the prettiest pop of colour. It is only $26 at Sephora Canada which might seem like a lot, but the blush will last you forever as a little goes a long way.
Maybelline Lifter Gloss
Hear me out, this is possibly better than the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb and I don’t say that lightly. This bomb does exactly what its name says it’ll do: it creates the illusion of lifting your lips while adding shine and moisture to them. I like this more than the Fenty gloss for a variety of reasons, mainly because this does not contain sparkles, so it adds shine without looking like too much. This Maybelline gloss is also affordable, can be found pretty much anywhere (unlike Fenty Beauty which is only available at Sephora), and comes in a wide range of shades.
