Toronto Comicon’s Festivus Holiday Sale
BY SABRINA PIGNATARO Yesterday, Toronto ComiCon put on a small, one-day comic convention. For only $10 (and free for kids under 12), guests could enter the convention floor in Hall F of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre’s South Building. The “Festivus Holiday Sale” prides itself as the largest one-day comics show in Canada, with 2,500 guests in 2013. Unlike the massive fall event Fan Expo, the December convention is a lot more low-key, with fewer special guests, no panels, and a much smaller space. Fan Expo, on the other hand, takes up the entire South Building and part of the North Building. [pullquote]No convention would be complete without the presence…

Whether you’re athletic, chic, or casual, having the proper shoe can make all the difference in your physical well-being and performance. “Get your shoe measured properly by an expert. Why Can’t You be Happy for Me?
Why my friends stopped finding me interesting after I fell in love: BY LAURA MCREYNOLDS “Do you fight often?” was the first question my friend asked me about my boyfriend. It was the first time I had seen her in years, and we were meeting for coffee. I felt a familiar panic— lie or tell the truth. I find myself telling her about an irrelevant spat we had, making the story angrier and more dramatic than it truly was. I did this because I didn’t want to face the familiar glazed expression, the feigned enthusiasm followed by silence that follows when I tell the truth— I am happy with my…

Skyrim— A Revolutionary RPG
BY LAURA MCREYNOLDS Skyrim is a revolutionary open-world Role-Playing Game (RPG). Released in late 2011, it is the fifth instalment of the Elder Scrolls series, developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. The graphics of Skyrim far surpass that of its most recent predecessor, Oblivion, released in 2006. Notably, Skyrim provides a more fluid gaming experience than the previous Elder Scrolls games because it no longer requires the player choose a character class when setting up their character, which made the gameplay too rigid from an early point in the game. As with previous Elder Scrolls games, Skyrim is based in the fictional continent of Tamriel, with…

New Kid on the Block
From country mouse to city slicker BY JENNY WILSON I always imagined my life would be like Sex and the City. Of course, I’ve never actually seen a full episode, but from what I do know, it looks like the sweet life. I wanted to be the lady strutting through the city, wearing four-inch Louis Vuitton pumps; I wanted to go to lunch with handsome, intelligent men and have fancy cocktails with my girlfriends. But as of two months ago I was still living in my parents house on the farm where I grew up. It’s about as far from the high city life as you can get—but I…
